Community
Our community unites law students, legal professionals, and advocates for change who are committed to reimagining justice. Join us to connect with like-minded individuals, participate in events, and help build initiatives that lift up each other, law firms, law schools and the criminal justice system. To quote Margaret Wheatley “There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.” Your interests and passion for reform strengthen our foundation. Come for the experience and stay for the connection. Join our community (here).
Prison Art
Our Prison Art program showcases the creative expressions of incarcerated artists, humanizing their experiences and opening meaningful conversations about justice. These works build bridges of understanding between separated communities. The emotion behind prison art reflects so many facets of the life that the artist has lived both in and out of prison.
Tell us what interests you most: auctions, exhibits, or streaming artwork services. We’ll connect you with opportunities to engage as opportunities are available. (here).
Stories
Stories change perspectives and build empathy. We collect narratives from those impacted by the justice system including incarcerated individuals, returning citizens, families, victims, and legal professionals. Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world. If you have criminal justice experience to share, we welcome your contribution. Submit your story through our online form, and with your permission, we may share it in our community. Submit your story (here).
Criminal Justice Video Games
Our video game educates players about criminal justice system complexities through an interactive simulation based on an actual prosecution. Players gain deeper understanding of systemic issues and policy impacts through this immersive experience.
Just as we make choices in the game, we make choices in life and in the end…. our choices make us. You can become a game tester, donate resources to support development, or express interest in other ways to contribute. (The games aren’t scheduled for release until 2026.) Submit your form of interest (here).
Volunteers
Volunteers expand our impact through various opportunities matching your skills and availability from corresponding with incarcerated individuals to event planning or administrative support.
Volunteering is at the very core of being a human. No one has made it through life without someone else helping them. Fill out our volunteer form telling us what interests you and what skills you bring to the table, and we’ll match you with opportunities that are available. (form)
Corporate Team Building
Corporate Team Building is a way for select members of your organization to join Impartial in doing a justice-related activity. It can be evaluation prison artwork, testing video games, designing a new community project or another novel idea. The magic in this activity is that we are all focused on a higher purpose, and you get to know your team members in a different way from working together at the office. Contact diane@impartial for more information.
